1073. The wedding Trap by Tracy Ann Warren

------------------------------

Hi! I'm Hisako.

I read "The wedding Trap".
The author of this novel is Tracy Ann Warren.

Its spin off is "The Husband Trap" that is the RITA Best First Book in 2007.
"The Husband Trap" was translated into Japanese.
Its title is "あやまちは愛".
I feel it was too much sweet title.
Why do Japanese romantic novels have sweet titles?

I feel her novels are wallpaper historical romantic novels.
“The wedding Trap” is quite well.

Heroine is a poor bluestocking and not attractive.
Her aunt passed away recently.
She inherited her aunt’s property.
Now she is heiress.
Many fortune hunters come and try to catch her heart.
She fell in love with hero some years ago.
But she knows he never wants to marry her.

Hero is her best friend’s brother-in-law.
He thought heroine was shapeless and not attractive.
Because she always wore ugly dresses and be too shy to talk with gentlemen.
Heroine’s best friend asked him to help heroine find a suitable husband.
He accepted.
He took her to dressmaker to buy beautiful dresses.
She changed her hairstyle.

He made her attractive heiress.
Many suitable young gentlemen call on her.
But he is not happy. Why?

-----
This book's level is about YL6.
It is not difficult.

P.S.
If you find many unfamiliar words in my writeing, don't worry.
Most of GR , children's books and contemporary books don't have such words,
but European historical novels have them.

If you want to read European historical novels, I suggest to read this.

Hi, Hisako.
I'm Dora.

How do you do ?
I'm so much pleased to get an oppotunity to chat
with you, finally.

I've read some of your articles on this Web board,
especially introducing and talking about historical
romance novels, and I've already purchased some of
those which might have comparatively low YL as a PB,
like as "To Catch an Heiress" by Julia Quinn, or
"Lady Sophia's Lover" by Lisa Kleypas.

I can't deny that I'm just a contemporary-romantic-
comedy-freak, from my experience of watching a lot
of DVDs. I think this experience is not enough to
be called extensive-watching-DVD, but I've watched
more than four hundred DVDs within two years and
most of these are either American or English movies,
and maybe sixty percents of these are contemporary
romantic comedies.

Therefore, I chose contemporary romantic commedy
as both of my first and second challenges to PB,
and these plans made it.

However, I also love serious romantic stories.
So I always think I may be able to devote to
some historical romantic novels some day.

On the other hand, I sometimes looked into obtained
novels, including historical romances, when I was
considering which PB I would read next.
But at any time, any of those historical romantic
novels seemed to have some difficulties to read
through.
As a result, those novels have been still stacked
in the container-board-boxes, like as a kind of a
stone which makes some pickles tasted delicious.

Well, you know, it might be ordinary beings of
typical extensive readers.

But I wonder if there were some books which could
open the firmly locked entrance to the world of
historical romance, and lead me into there.

So I'm so grateful to you for providing fundamental
knowledge for reading historical romance. It must
be very necessary thing for me definitely.

Also I'm greatly grateful to you for introducing the
book which can be read through easily.
I'm intending to purchase "The Wedding Trap" now.

〉"The Husband Trap" was translated into Japanese.
〉Its title is "あやまちは愛".
〉I feel it was too much sweet title.
〉Why do Japanese romantic novels have sweet titles?

Oh...
I always have to consider exact same question as
yours, any time I see such kind of Japanese titles.
Furthermore, I also have to consider why these titles
can be totally different meaning.
There is no common things between "The Husband Trap"
and "A mistake is love" or such kind of stupid stuff.
Don't you think ?

Perhaps, I've written too long in this article.

I'm wondering how much grateful I would be if you
were not care about it.
Just because I'm so pleased to chat with you...

Happy Reading !

Hi Dora!
I'm Hisako.

Thanks a lot for your comment.
I've read your 1 million words report.
Congratulation!

You'd like to chat with me?
I know you have interest in love comedy.
We could talk about historical romances.

I've read some contemporary romances.
I like Suzanne Brockmann's books.
Her book's heroes are Navy SEALs.
They are military romances.

I choose historical romances most of time.
I feel historical romances are some kind of fantasy.
When I was tired, I'd like to read a happily ever after story.

> There is no common things between "The Husband Trap"
> and "A mistake is love" or such kind of stupid stuff.
> Don't you think ?

Most of Japanese titles don't have same meaning.
examples
"Lady Sophia's Lover" is "憎しみもなにもかも".
"Offer from a Gentleman" is "もう一度だけ円舞曲(ワルツ)を".
(This offer means "Will you become my mistress?")

Similar meaning example
"Simply Unforgettable" is "ただ忘れられなくて".

Does Japanese romance fun like sweet titles?
There are so many romantic novels in bookshop.
Is sweet title an eye catch?

In USA romantic novel's title is not sweet.
But I'm embarrassed by its cover.
I always use book jacket.
Does American fan really like such a cover?
I can't believe it!

I've read three Tracy Ann Warren's books.
I think “My Fair Mistress” is the best.
This is first book of Mistress trilogy.

Hero is a bastard son of Viscount.
His mother is a clergyman’s daughter.
He is blue blood as most of aristocrats.
He has lived out of society circle.

Heroine is a daughter of an earl.
She married old man when she was eighteen.
Of course she and her husband were not love match.
Now she is a widow.

She called on him about her brother’s debt.
Her brother has to pay back the debt in his estate and country house.
She wishes to not lose them.
She said hero “I will pay back my brother’s debt in anything I have.”

Hero thought she is very brave.
And she is attractive and loves her brother very much.
He was angry with her brother.
If he would say something terrible, she will give up to pay back the debt.
He says “Will you pay back it in yourself?”.
She says “What do you mean?”.
“You will become my mistress for your brother’s debt.”
She considers a little while and then said “yes”.

“The Accidental Mistress” is second book.
This is historical romantic comedy.

Hero decided to do his duty.
One of his duties is to have an heir and a few spares.
So he has to marry someone.
His mother and the Earl of somewhere want to get married him and the earl’s daughter.
He went to the earl and asked to marry her.
It was not formal. At least he thought but a promise is a promise.

Heroine escaped from her cruel stepfather.
Because of he forced her to marry evil gentleman.
She pretended to her drown in a stormy sea.
She wore men’s clothes and traveled to London.
She has an inheritance from his grandfather.
It is enough to live alone in London.

When she entered an inn, hero notice a boy is not a boy, but young woman.
A quite attractive woman
But he said nothing about he knows she is a woman.
He wanted to know who she is.

I wrote looooong article, too.
I hope you don't mind it.

Happy Reading!

Hi, Hisako !
It's me, Dora.

Thanks for your reply.

〉Thanks a lot for your comment.
〉I've read your 1 million words report.
〉Congratulation!

Thank you so much !
I would like to have fun with my second round.

〉You'd like to chat with me?

YEAH ! Why not ?

Though, at the instant I saw your reply, I started afraid
of whether my purse would be endurable or not. (Laughing!)

"Wow ! She is mentioning books and authers which I
don't know entirely..."
"Ooooh! These books seem to be so much interesting !"

Then I ordered some books in Amazon.

Right now, I'm wondering whether I could last the payments
for the books or not, if I would continuously chat with
you...(Sweating...)

Of course, I'm just kidding.
But I feel fun in chatting with you.

〉I know you have interest in love comedy.
〉We could talk about historical romances.

Yes ! Yes !
But, unfortunately, I've not ever read through any
historical romances. I'm just the one who is going to
try it as soon as possible.

〉I've read some contemporary romances.
〉I like Suzanne Brockmann's books.
〉Her book's heroes are Navy SEALs.
〉They are military romances.

How interesting these books seem to be !
Of course, I don't know this author.
I'd like to try some of these books.

So I ordered "The Admiral's Bride" and "Into the Storm".

〉I choose historical romances most of time.
〉I feel historical romances are some kind of fantasy.
〉When I was tired, I'd like to read a happily ever after story.

I can understand what you wrote.
Sometimes I also need some kind of healing.
I guess you could find what you needed to feel in the
historical romances.

〉Does Japanese romance fun like sweet titles?
〉There are so many romantic novels in bookshop.
〉Is sweet title an eye catch?

Yeah !
I have ever had same kind of question with some movies.

"Princess diaries" is changed to "Pretty Princess"
for Japanese market.

The Sandora Bullock's famous movie "Dangerous Beauty"
has the original title "Miss Congeniality", even though
this Japanese title hardly has sweet taste, but it
might have extended impacts.

Meg Ryan's famous title "When Harry met Sally" is
"恋人達の予感" in Japan.

I think the most stupid movie title in Japan I've ever
met is Anne Hathaway's "裸の天使". It's originally "Havoc".
Exactly, it was first time that Anne Hathaway appeared
her naked beauty in this film.
However, this film is one of the accusation for the drug
usage in Hispanic gang's community in LA, and senseless
fighting with high school boys who are innocently admiring
gang's life style. Anne Hathaway acted one of high school
girl who is also admiring gang, and her boyfriend would
get involved fighting against Hispanics. But I think
Anne Hathaway's roll in this movie is nothing like
angels.

〉In USA romantic novel's title is not sweet.
〉But I'm embarrassed by its cover.
〉I always use book jacket.
〉Does American fan really like such a cover?
〉I can't believe it!

Oh, I truly commiserate you.
I understand you can't stand that others like as
passengers in a train, take a look at such cover
of book which you are devoted to, because you
are an woman.

I barely care this kind of thing in case the book
would be "Lady Sophia's Lover" or "Worth Any Price "
, even though "Mine Till Midnight".

But I felt surprised at the moment I saw the picture of
"Force of Nature" or "Identity: Unknown". (Both of these
are written by Suzanne Brockmann)
I also can't read these books with out a jacket in front
of public.

〉I've read three Tracy Ann Warren's books.

I really thank you for informing about these books.
I would like to read these books when I can
easily read through some historical romances.

〉I wrote looooong article, too.
〉I hope you don't mind it.

Actually, I enjoyed your article and look forward
to be delivered new books.
Thank you !

〉Happy Reading!
I wish you will have a good time at the beginning of
new year.
Happy Reading !

Hello! Dora.
I'm Hisako.

There was a terrible things happen to me.
About romantic novel's book cover!
Will you want to know?

I bought Laura Lee Guhrke's latest book and some Japanese books for my husband.
When I ordered this book, Amazon didn't have this book cover's image.
But I didn't care.
I expected something like her other book's cover.

I got a box from Amazon.
I opened it with my HUSBAND.

[url:http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/images/0061143618/ref=dp_image
_0/249-1899339-4260335?ie=UTF8&n=52033011&s=english-books]

Oh!
He said "Why did you buy an Americam erotic novel?"
"NOOOOOOO!!!! It is NOT an Americam erotic novel! It's a ROMANCE!"

I took him to my computer and to see AAR(All About Romance) site.
There is "The Wicked Ways of a Duke"review.
Its sensuality IS WARM, not Burning.
[url:http://www.likesbooks.com/cgi-bin/bookReview.pl?BookReviewId=6504]

He said "I'm sorry. But why does this book have such a cover? "
I said "I've no idea. I want to know why. May be American women love it."

Do you read this book without book jacket in public?
Of course I can't.

Be careful to buy romantic novel's that Amazon doesn't have images.
I should open Amazon's box alone.

See you.

Hi, Hisako.
It's me, Dora.

Thanks for providing your unexpectable story.
I could have pretty much laughter with this article.

〉There was a terrible things happen to me.
〉About romantic novel's book cover!
〉Will you want to know?

Wow, wow...
What's that ? Said the voice in my mind.

〉I bought Laura Lee Guhrke's latest book and some Japanese books for my husband.
〉When I ordered this book, Amazon didn't have this book cover's image.
〉But I didn't care.
〉I expected something like her other book's cover.

I can understand your idea.
I've checked out what most of the Laura Lee Guhrke's
books look like, in Amazon.

〉I got a box from Amazon.
〉I opened it with my HUSBAND.

Wow, wow...
Feel like sound of the heart beating is hearing...

[url:http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/images/0061143618/ref=dp_image
〉_0/249-1899339-4260335?ie=UTF8&n=52033011&s=english-books]

〉Oh!
〉He said "Why did you buy an Americam erotic novel?"
〉"NOOOOOOO!!!! It is NOT an Americam erotic novel! It's a ROMANCE!"

Oooh.
Defenitely, this scene must be the one of the most typical
disaster of the whole world's comtemporary romantic comedies !!

〉I took him to my computer and to see AAR(All About Romance) site.
〉There is "The Wicked Ways of a Duke"review.
〉Its sensuality IS WARM, not Burning.
[url:http://www.likesbooks.com/cgi-bin/bookReview.pl?BookReviewId=6504]

So, you could prove the sensefulness of your decision.
You had to be on the razor's edge right at that moment !!
Hooh...

〉He said "I'm sorry. But why does this book have such a cover? "
〉I said "I've no idea. I want to know why. May be American women love it."

You always have been troubled with such kind of cover.
Now your husband would be sacrificed with the same trouble.

I'm wondering whether your husband accepted this book or not,
nevertheless he would be a victim of such kind of the
embarrassing covers.

〉Do you read this book without book jacket in public?
〉Of course I can't.

No.
Definitely I can't.

I could stand if there were only one woman who is showing
some part of her beautiful skin, not too much, like as
seducing, innocently or whatever.
I think this is truly romantic.

But if there are both a man and an woman with their half-naked
bodies like this book, I feel this must be a kind of erotic
novel.

〉Be careful to buy romantic novel's that Amazon doesn't have images.
〉I should open Amazon's box alone.

So, both you and your husband were forced to act the rolls of
a very short romantic comedy.
How did you feel about that ?

Don't you wish this must be NEVER, EVER going to happen ?

But I thank you so mucu for informing this funny story.
Actually, I can't stop myself laughing with this.

# And I exaggerated my expression in this article
# as a kind of joke, feeling like an American who
# is watching funny scene of a TV show.
# I would truly appreciate if you wouldn't care
# about my words and you would feel not wrong side
# since I'm just kidding.

See ya !

I'm grad to know you enjoyed my story.
It is like a comedy.
My husband and I burst of laughter at that time.

If there is no online book shop, it is difficult to buy romantic novels.
Many romance fun agree with me.

I think it would happen again.
But he knows American book cover is something different from Japanese one.
He doesn't care I buy book that has erotic picture on the cover any more.
If I would buy a erotic novel by mistake, he doesn't notice it is really a erotic novel.
Because of he isn't good at English.
So he would never ever read my English books.
Ha ha ha!

See you!

Good evening, Hisako !

Last night, at the instant when I read your
article,I could barely get your picture.

〉Because of he isn't good at English.
〉So he would never ever read my English books.

I considered last night,
"What does this mean ?..."
Then I read your article repeatedly last night,
but I could not get it.
At last, I decided,
"Anyway, I can leave this once."

However, then, tonight, suddenly I became aware of
my misunderstanding during my work.

You wrote the day before yesterday as following :

〉I bought Laura Lee Guhrke's latest book and some Japanese books for my husband.

But at the first sight, I grasped this means
"you bought BOTH of Laura Lee Guhrke's book and
some Japanese books FOR YOUR HUSBAND".

So after that, I thought pleasingly.
"It's so good that Hisako-san has an English-
reading-family."
"There must be lots of common words in their
conversation. Mmmm."

But right now, I recognized my misunderstanding.

You bought a Laura Lee Guhrke's book FOR YOURSELF and
some Japanese books FOR YOUR HUSBAND, right ?

Again, I could not stop my laughing right after I
became aware of this. Then I felt I had to inform
you my stupid, misunderstanding story.

I'd be pleased if you could feel funny in my stuid
misundestanding.

See you !

I got a good laugh.
My belly was hurt.
And you and your husband's talk!
As Dora and you said, I thought,
"This is a real romantic comedy! I love this one!!!"

Then how about your kid?
He would be shocked to know the "fact"
that his mother is fond of the EROTIC novels!
Or perhaps he'll say,
"Oh, I know... I've been suspected of her secret things.”

You know, this is a joke.
Please don't care about my naughty joke!

Bye!
